Privacy policy

Last updated 3 September 2026 · applies to the Dealiteful mobile app and this website

The short version

Dealiteful shows you deals at shops, stands and venues you walk past. It does that by listening for Bluetooth beacons on your phone — not by tracking where you go.

  • Beacon detection and matching run entirely on your device. No location data is sent to us.
  • Saved deals are stored on your phone, not in our systems.
  • We do not sell personal information and we do not build advertising profiles.
  • Notifications are optional. Bluetooth and location can be revoked at any time in system settings.

Who we are

Dealiteful is published by Sensimity by The RO Brand, Fokkerstraat 12, 3833 LD Leusden, The Netherlands, +31 6 45438943. We are the controller of the limited personal information described here. Contact us any time at privacy@dealiteful.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your email address, if you join the early-access list or write to support.
  • Merchant details, if you register a business: business name, address, contact person, beacon identifiers.
  • The content of any message you send us.

Information created as you use the app

  • Beacon proximity — which known beacons are in range, processed on your device.
  • Location permission data — required by iOS and Android for Bluetooth scanning; used on the device only (see below).
  • A push notification token, if you allow notifications, so a nearby deal can reach you.
  • Compare searches — the product terms you type into the Compare tab.
  • Diagnostics — app version, operating system, device model, crash reports and aggregate usage events.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera data, we do not read other apps' activity, and we do not use advertising identifiers for cross-app tracking.

Beacons and location

A beacon is a small Bluetooth Low Energy transmitter placed by a participating location. It broadcasts an identifier; it receives nothing, and it learns nothing about you or your phone.

Both mobile platforms classify Bluetooth beacon scanning as location access, so the app asks for a location permission — including precise and background access, because a beacon a few metres away is only detectable that way. In practice:

  • Beacon detection and the match against deals happen on your device.
  • We do not receive GPS coordinates, and we do not build or store a location history, movement trail or visit log.
  • The app fetches deal content for the locations in the network; that request does not carry your position.
  • Revoke Bluetooth or location in system settings and nearby deals stop working. Compare keeps working.

Notifications

With your permission we store a device push token so a deal in range can reach you. Notifications are limited to one per location per visit, respect the categories you mute, and stop entirely when you turn the permission off. We never use push notifications for third-party advertising.

Saved deals

Deals you save are kept on your device only. They are not uploaded, and we cannot see them. Removing a deal in the app, clearing app data or uninstalling deletes them.

Compare searches

When you search a product in the Compare tab, the search term is sent to Dealilah (dealilah.com), our own live price-comparison service, which matches it against retailer and marketplace price data and returns results, including in-store prices at nearby retailers. Searches are used to answer the query and to improve matching quality. They are not tied to an advertising profile and they are not sold.

Prices shown are indicative and can change before you reach the shop or the checkout.

Analytics and crash reporting

We use [your analytics and crash tools, e.g. Firebase Crashlytics] to see which screens are used and to fix crashes. This data is aggregated or pseudonymised, is not used to identify you, and is never combined with beacon or location data.

Who else sees data

  • Service providers acting on our instructions: hosting, database, email delivery and push delivery [name them].
  • Dealilah, for Compare searches — it receives the search term, not your identity.
  • Merchants, in aggregate only: how many people saw, opened or saved a deal. Never who.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in US state privacy laws.

How long we keep it

  • Early-access and support emails: until you ask us to delete them, or 24 months after our last exchange.
  • Merchant account data: while the account is active, then deleted within 30 days.
  • Push tokens: until the permission is withdrawn or the app is uninstalled.
  • Compare searches: [retention period, e.g. 90 days], then deleted or fully anonymised.
  • Crash and diagnostic logs: [e.g. 90 days].
  • Saved deals: on your device, for as long as you keep them.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to confirm what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can withdraw consent for notifications or location at any time in system settings, and doing so never costs you the rest of the app.

Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have the right to know, delete, correct and obtain a portable copy of their personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. To exercise a right, email privacy@dealiteful.com; an authorised agent may act for you with written permission. We do not charge for this and we answer within 45 days.

If you are in the EEA or the UK

We are established in the Netherlands, so the GDPR applies to our processing. Our legal bases are: performing the service you asked for (showing, saving and comparing deals), your consent (notifications, Bluetooth and location access, optional analytics), and our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, fixing faults). You also have the rights to restriction, objection and data portability, and you may complain to your supervisory authority — in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

[If any provider is outside the EEA, name the transfer safeguard used, e.g. EU Standard Contractual Clauses.]

Children

Dealiteful is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Traffic between the app and our services is encrypted in transit. Access to the little data we hold is limited to the people who need it. Keeping the most sensitive signal — your whereabouts — on the device is itself the main safeguard.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data we update this page, and for anything material we tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
